Dorann Jacobowitz
is a New York City literacy expert in grades K-6. She has a strong background in Teacher’s College Reading and Writing approach and the analysis and utilization of data for differentiating instruction. While serving as Literacy Coordinator at the District Office in the Long Island City area she spent much of her time participating in Teacher’s College study groups since it was her responsibility to initiate this approach in her schools. Her schools have relied on her to support their efforts in organizing teams to analyze data for the purpose of providing appropriate interventions based on the needs of the child. Additionally, she spent many years as a classroom teacher. Dorann has an extraordinary ability to establish a sense of community and utilize that as a tool in order to move instructional practice.
