While there she taught both kindergarten and fourth grade, frequently opening the doors of her classroom to serve as a lab site for staff developers as well as a model for visiting educators from various schools and organizations throughout the country. Since leaving PS 116 in 2003, Felicia worked for the Center for Applied Child Development at Tufts University, providing staff development in reading and writing instruction, in class coaching to help teachers in implementing the workshop models in their classrooms, as well as school and district-wide workshops. She also worked with administrators to assess the needs of their schools and districts, and then plan customized staff development. In addition to her literacy work, Felicia also worked for the Boston Public Schools as a math coach, modeling lessons, co-teaching, and facilitating workshops in the area of hands on mathematics, specifically the Investigations in Number, Data, and Space curriculum (TERC). Felicia received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Binghamton University and a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. |
