Dr. George M. Kapalka
earned an MA in Psychology from Kean College and a PhD
in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson
University. Dr. Kapalka holds board certifications in
Clinical Psychology (FAAClinP, ABPP) and
psychopharmacology (FICPP, FPPR), as well as board
certifications in additional areas, including forensics
(child and family) and learning disabilities.
Currently,
Dr. Kapalka is member of Graduate Faculty at Monmouth
University as an Assistant Professor within the
Department of Psychological Counseling. He previously
taught at several universities, including Fairleigh
Dickinson University (within the PhD program in Clinical
Psychology) and the New York Institute of Technology
(where he served as the Director of Counselor
Education). Dr. Kapalka heads a state-accredited
Independent Child Study Team and he maintains a private
practice that primarily focuses on the treatment of
children and adolescents. In addition, he is a member of
Medical Staff at Meridian Health, Brick Hospital
Division.
Dr.
Kapalka is active in community education and has been
interviewed in newspapers and on television. Since 1985,
Dr. Kapalka has been presenting research studies at
national and international conferences, and his current
research interests include the management and education
of children with attentional and behavioral disorders.
Dr. Kapalka has authored several research articles and
is currently completing a book that is based on a series
of studies that researched the techniques that parents
and teachers can use to manage and educate ADHD
children.
