Geraldine Hayes is a former New York City high school Assistant Principal for Instruction, as well as a Social Studies, Art and Music chairperson. Currently, she is the Project Manager for History in the Classroom, a Teaching American History grant program for high school teachers. In this capacity she works in and out of the classroom to improve teaching strategies in order to help students to develop historical thinking skills as well as a deeper understanding of social studies themes and concepts. As a professional developer she has worked with high school teachers to improve curriculum planning, the use of primary source documents, rigorous and engaging lessons that promote inquiry, and project-based learning.
Geraldine has a BA degree in Social Studies from The College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY; an MA in Humanities/Art History from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY and a Post Graduate Professional Certificate in School Administration from Hunter College, New York, NY.
