Dr. Jane Plenge has dedicated her life to enhancing the education of the children of the community. Much of her insight as an instructional leader is the result of fourteen years of experience as a teacher and eleven years as an administrator in the New Jersey public school system. Jane has also worked as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Education at Saint Joseph’s University. This work has helped her to develop a wealth of practical skills and a deep knowledge of best practice in the field. In working closely with students, teachers, administrators, Board of Education members, and community, she has enjoyed learning how to effectively engage in individual and collegial problem solving and to wrestle with important issues that impact the educational environment.

Jane’s work as a teacher and an administrator in high, middle and low income school districts enables her to prepare educators for the variety of challenges found in diverse settings. She believes that it is the responsibility of every practicing educator to cultivate an attitude of lifelong learner, so she has made every effort to provide high quality professional learning to teachers and administrative colleagues during her administrative tenure. Jane feels an educator’s moral and ethical sense of obligation to work toward the elevation of social justice. She believes that powerful change occurs when teachers and students are critical, transformative thinkers. As an educator who is entrusted to develop healthy, productive community members, Jane seeks to ensure that students have equal access to excellent curriculum and instruction delivered by teachers who have taken part in strong professional learning. Jane is an active member in NSDC, ASCD, AASA, and NJASA.
