Janet Mann worked for the New York City Department of Education for 28 years
- as a teacher, a staff developer and an administrator. She has worked
consistently on adolescent literacy, and is particularly interested in
working with school teams on designing and implementing literacy plans for
small learning communities and whole schools.
Literacy Across the Curriculum
This workshop is includes literacy strategies that can be infused in all
subject areas to enhance
students' understanding of what they read. This workshop can focus on
reading
and/or writing, depending on needs of the participants.
Working With Struggling Readers and Writers
This workshop is for high school teachers who are not trained as reading
specialists,
but are working with students who are four or more years behind in
literacy skills. Many practical strategies for improving reading skills
will be shared in this hands-on workshop.
