Jed Baker, Ph.D.
has been a clinical psychologist since 1992. He is a behavioral consultant for several New Jersey School systems, where he provides social skills training for students with pervasive developmental disorders and learning disabilities. He directs and supervises social skills training for students in NJ school districts. In addition, he writes, lectures, and provides training across the country on the topic of social skills training for individuals with Aspergers Syndrome and related Pervasive Developmental Disorders. He has recently published both a manual on social skills training for children with Asperger Syndrome and a social skill picture book to aid in social skills training.
At his conferences Dr. Baker will give you the tools to handle challenging behaviors, prevent temper outbursts and increase social skills for all students. He shares ways to motivate both verbal and nonverbal students to willingly engage in social interactions.
He also outlines a comprehensive approach to skills training that includes instruction of students with autism and their peers. Skills include: joint attention, conversation, play, cooperative work, managing frustration, dating, and employment. The use of humor and engaging, fun activities is described and demonstrated throughout his dynamic presentation.
Dr. Baker earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York Albany. Author of four noted books, The Social Skills Picture Book, Social Skills Training, Preparing for Life, and his latest release, The Social Skills Picture Book for High School and Beyond, he is also director an advisory board member for ASPEN (an information network for parents of children with Asperger Syndrome. |
