Jenny Bender taught both 2nd grade and 7th grade literacy in New York City public schools. She worked as a staff developer with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project for several years and taught the teaching of writing at Teachers College, Columbia. She currently works with teachers in K–8 classrooms, helping them acquire and hone the skills they need to lead effective reading and writing workshops. Her first book, The Resourceful Writing Teacher: A Handbook of Essential Skills and Strategies, will be published through Heinemann this fall. |
