Judy Davis taught in the New York City Public School system for thirty years. From 1993 to 2003, she taught 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades at the Manhattan New School. She has Worked Closely with Lucy Calkins and Shelley Harwayne at the teacher's College Writing Project. Judy has conducted workshops and institutes throughout the United States and Canada on aspects of a Balanced Literacy Approach. Her classroom was a model site for staff development for teachers in District 2 in New York City, as well as from other areas surrounding the city. Currently, she is consulting throughout New York City, Westchester, Long Island and Connecticut. She is the co-author of The No-Nonsense Guide to Teaching Writing, published by Heinemann.
