Karen Perna
is currently a Math Enrichment teacher in NJ. She has
developed the program on her own to challenge her students who are in grades
K through 5. Prior to that she had six years of middle school math
experience in a NJ School District.
She is known for her hands-on workshops, which includes work with
manipulatives, probability, data analysis, cooperative learning and ways to
incorporate math into other subject areas.
She has expertise with various Math programs such as Everyday Math, Scott
Foresman and Houghton Mifflin.
Karen has a lively personality and her love for math is evident in her
teaching style. She is aware that all children learn at various levels and
adjusts her style accordingly. If you were a student in her class there
would be much interaction as math problems are solved in many ways. She
incorporates games, puzzles, brain teasers and other hands on math
activities to solve problems.
Karen Perna graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and Secondary Education
from Trenton State College. She is certified to teach mathematics from
K-12. She is also very experienced on the use of the T1 Nspire CAS graphing
calculator and Geometer's Sketchpad software.
