Karyna Tejeda has been working in New York City elementary schools for eleven years. Her roles have included third grade bilingual teacher, Resource Specialist for the Division of English Language Learners, and Lead/Math Coach for Region 9.

As a coach she provides teachers and colleagues throughout the region workshops in Everyday Mathematics, and seminars that delve into the big ideas underlying our number system. In addition to her regional responsibilities, she also coaches at the local level in one Manhattan school and one in the Bronx.

Karyna has attended the Leadership Institute at Mt. Holyoke College and is a facilitator of the Developing Mathematical Ideas seminars: Building a System of Tens and Making Meaning for Operations.
