“Kate” (Catherine) Reed is a Professor of Education , where she
specializes in the teaching of elementary and middle school Mathematics
Methods for the Multiple Subjects Credential candidates. In addition, Kate
teaches all core courses for the Master's in Curriculum with an emphasis in
Mathematics. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in
Educational Psychology - Gifted with an emphasis in Mathematics Education.
There, her dissertation advisor was Carol Ann Tomlinson and her work focused
on both differentiation and the needs of high-end mathematics students.
Prior to earning her Ph.D., Kate was a public school mathematics teacher for
22 years.
