Kimberly Mayfield is an associate professor and Coordinator of the Education Specialist Mild/Moderate credential program at a California University. She has been and educator for 18 years. During her career she has taught in general education and special education classrooms in urban districts. Dr. Mayfield has also had extensive experience supporting and supervising student teachers in urban and suburban settings. For the last 8 years she has trained general education and special education credential candidates in the areas of: inclusion, assessment, differentiated instruction, effective teaching strategies, special education language needs, multicultural education and social foundations of education. These experiences have grounded her knowledge in the challenges faced by beginning and veteran teachers in urban and suburban school districts as they endeavor to meet the needs of students who represent a variety of academic needs and learning styles.
