Mary Beth Allen is an Associate Professor of Reading Education at a University in Pennsylvania. Prior to that, she worked for 18 years in the Baltimore County Public Schools, as a classroom teacher and reading specialist. She has consulted with numerous school districts supporting teachers as they refine their literacy instruction, specifically in guided reading, implementing literacy centers, and teaching comprehension strategies.
Mary Beth is the co-author of 2 books published by the International Reading Association – Guided Comprehension: A Teaching Model for Grades 3-6 and Guided Comprehension: Lessons in Action. She has also created 2 videos with the Bureau of Education and Research - Current, Best Strategies for Teaching Reading Comprehension, Grades K-2 and
Strengthening Students' Reading Comprehension, Grades 3-6.
