Guendalina Pieters is currently a lead math coach for New York City's Region Nine. This is now her fourth year as a lead coach with Region Nine. She is responsible for designing and facilitating EDM workshops for teachers in grades K-5. She also provides workshops to other coaches as well as parents in the region. Although she works with teachers throughout the region, she focuses on teachers in District Four, Spanish Harlem. She helps teachers to be able to critically look at student work and provide appropriate instructions. She also focuses on developing teachers to differentiate their lessons to match the needs of their students.
Before coming to Region Nine, Guendalina worked as a District Math Staff Developer as well as a building level Staff Developer for more than fifteen years. She has been training teachers to use a hands on approach when teaching mathematics as an alternative to traditional approaches during her entire career. Guen has also spent many years in classrooms around the city helping teachers of special learners, bilingual learners and monolingual learners to enjoy teaching mathematics thus successfully raising math scores.
