Marcy Mattera taught elementary school in New York City for 10 years before becoming a Math Coach for Grades Pre-K through Grade 5. She received six years of training at “Math in the City” at CCNY and has co-facilitated their Summer Institute. Marcy has experience providing workshops for teachers and parents that invite participants to experience mathematics that directly relates to the classroom. She believes that students are young mathematicians and aims to support teachers in creating classrooms of flexible, independent thinkers.
Marcy has experience with Investigations in Number, Data and Space Curriculum (TERC), Everyday Math Curriculum, and Contexts for Learning units.
Her own staff development experiences have provided her with a repertoire of games, models, and mini-lessons that can support learners within any curriculum. Workshops are designed to be hands-on, interactive, and directly related to classroom instruction. Participants will develop their own content knowledge while learning strategies that will support children?s development
