Marla Read Capper

Marla Read Capper is a doctoral student at the University of Virginia studying
Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Gifted Education. With eight
years of teaching, designing and implementing gifted programming in middle
school classrooms, Marla has a special interest in gifted adolescents, and
curriculum & instruction, particularly language arts and social studies,
the areas in which she taught. She has participated in research at the
National Research Center/GT analyzing the influence of differentiated
instruction on middle school classroom practices/student achievement, in
addition to exploring talent development in primary learners using a
case-based approach. Currently, Marla facilitates curriculum development
and program administration with the Saturday/Summer Enrichment Programs,
trains pre-service teachers and is an adjunct instructor at the University
of Virginia for courses in Gifted Education. She is also conducting
research as a member of the What Works team at the University of
Illinois-Chicago where as a research associate she is investigating the
technological practices of pre-service teacher programs and thus student
teachers.
