Matthew Masterson is an expert in collaboration, differentiation, inclusion
and small group work. After completing his teacher training for a MsEd in
Special Education and General Education with the New York City Teaching
Fellows, Matthew went to teach underprivileged, struggling students in the
Lower East Side. Through his 6 years of collaborative work with teachers he
has gained some invaluable skills.
Matthew is well versed in Teacher's College Reading and Writing curriculum,
Wilson Reading Systems, as well as other various Science and Math
curriculums. He uses a multi-sensory approach acknowledging multiple
intelligences in order to adapt these curriculums to special needs students.
Currently, Matthew is teaching in a collaborative classroom as well as in a
push in/pull out SETSS environment. He is particularly knowledgeable in the
areas of using social studies notebooks in the classroom, accommodations and
modifications for the diverse classroom and learner, and collaborative
practices among students and teachers.
His staff development workshops are dynamic, practical and engaging and
teachers gain usable ideas that can be easily implemented the next day.
