Melissa Moskowitz has been working for the NYC Department of Education for 12 years. Much of her experiences have been at a NYC school, serving grades 6-12. Her experience includes working as a Humanities teacher in the middle school for several years. She is currently working as a learning specialist in the senior institute (11/12grade),where she collaborates with the ELA teachers to differentiate, co-teach, and develop curriculum that supports all types of learners. Her experience also includes working as a Literacy Coach for a developing Middle School in the Bronx, where she worked closely with staff and administration to bring a strong foundational beginning to a school that services high needs students. Melissa has been an active member of staff development workshops within her school community as well as presenting at the Coalition for Essential schools fall forum. She believes that workshops for teachers and administration should be purposeful, interactive and a productive use of all participants time. She is seen as a valuable asset to her school community and believes strongly that striking the right balance between collaboration, humanity and a strong work ethic, are the backbone to a successful learning environment.
