Phyllis Tam

Phyllis Tam is currently involving in professional
development for teachers, coaches and school leaders
in secondary mathematics in Region 9, New York City
Department of Education. Prior to her current work as
a regional instructional specialist, she had taught
middle school mathematics for more than ten years. She
facilitates workshops and presentations on developing
mathematical understanding through the use of hands-on
manipulative, developing thoughtful lesson plans, looking
at student work, and many
more in region and national levels. In addition, she
has been involved in lesson study for the last five
years. She is particularly interested in improving teaching
and learning of mathematics in the middle school level.
