Roz Auerbach
   
Roz Auerbach is a master teacher and technology specialist with over thirty-five years of teaching (grades 2-10) and staff development experience. She was a middle school math and computer teacher for over 15 years and has been doing full time staff development since 1998 and part-time for many years before. She understands the needs and styles of different types of learners. Roz also understands the demands on administrators and teachers as they implement the Core Curriculum Content Standards and face the challenge of using technology to prepare students for the twenty-first century.

SMART Board for Classroom Teachers: A Powerful Tool to Create Interactive Learning Environments (K-12)

The SMART Board interactive whiteboard can be used to engage all students in the classroom! During this workshop classroom teachers will see examples of interactive classroom activities and a demonstration of the features of the SMART Board and SMART Board Software. Teachers will become familiar with the SMART Notebook that is used to create interactive lessons and activities. Participants will be given hands-on time to work with the tools and explore the functions of the technology and also get access to excellent ready-to-use lessons already developed. Teachers of all grade levels and subject areas will find innovative yet practical applications of this device, and will discover ways that the SMART Board can increase student involvement and motivation in the classroom. (This workshop is in designed for beginner-intermediate users of the SMART Board.)

Online Resources to Enhance the Curriculum
The Internet is a wonderful resource for excellent and free materials that will help students visualize and explore concepts, and provide links to primary and supplementary materials for any subject area. During this workshop participants will explore online simulations, interactive activities and get access to practice and reference materials that will enhance investigations and instruction and give students a better understanding of material being studied. Online lesson plans and teacher support sites will also be shown. Participants will leave with an exceptional set of resources that will be used throughout the year. This workshop is especially recommended for teachers of mathematics, language arts, science and social studies.
