Sabrian Romano - Differentiating Instruction

Sabrina Romano has worked as a consultant teacher, resource room teacher, and collaborative team teacher and has extensive experience with differentiating instruction for all levels of exceptional learners. Sabrina has expertise in implementing accommodations and modifications within a general education classroom setting. Her CTT class is a demonstration site for teachers around New York City. In addition to providing very practical workshops on Inclusion, Collaborative Teaching, and Differentiating Instruction, Sabrina often demonstrates lessons in the classroom, modeling effective practices for the both general and special educators.
Sabrina has led CTT workshops that include: creating and maintaining strong
Co-Teaching Teams, designing effective student groups in co-taught classes,
simple strategies for co-teachers, and innovative approaches for looking at
student work.
Description:
Differentiating Instruction
This interactive and practical workshop will give participants a framework
to develop skills to differentiate instruction in a diverse classroom
setting. Specifically the workshop will focus on the following keys to
differentiation: knowing your students, knowing your curriculum, developing
a repertoire of strategies for effective differentiation, and learning to
start small and keep it simple. In addition, tiering unit plans and daily
lesson plans, offering choice in classrooms, and knowing students learning
styles and profiles will be an essential aspect of the workshop. Workshop
time will be built into the session as teachers get to learn strategies and
try them out immediately.
