Sally Schannen been in the educational field for 36 years, either in the
classroom or in professional development. Currently, she is a
consultant for professional development in mathematics and
specializes in K to 8. Through her consulting, she has worked with
different school districts, to create and disseminate instructional
materials, demonstrate lessons, plan with teachers, give in-class
support, and instruct about current research and practices. Sally
demonstrates the use of questioning techniques that encourage thinking, sharing, and risk-taking.
She has extensive experience with
NJ ASK and GEPA and presents workshops on those topics for ASCD and
for the College of NJ.
In addition to Sally's experience in the classroom,she was involved
in the standards process when she worked in the Office of Standards
Assessment of the New Jersey State Department of Education. She has
also presented workshops to elementary school teachers and
administrators, focusing on teaching to the Core Curriculum Content
Standards.
