Shana Covel is currently working in New York City as an instructional specialist in technology in over 50 K-8 schools across the city. She has been designing and facilitating professional development for groups of teachers, administrators, and fellow specialists at the district and school level for over 8 years. Her workshops have including topics such as: Getting the Most out of Your Smartboard, Setting up a Student Technology Team, Getting Going in a One to One Computing Environment, The Best Free Internet Resources for Teachers, Microsoft Applications for Educators (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and more. An additional area of expertise is the use of tablet computers in schools. She has contributed to several writing projects that include teacher training manuals and curricular units infusing technology into math instruction. Prior to her work as an instructional specialist, she served as an instructional coach and has taught grades in both elementary and middle school.
