Dr. Usha Kotelawala is a professor of mathematics education. She has a Ph.D.in Mathematics Education from Teachers College. Her areas of interest include cultivating both inductive and deductive reasoning in problem solving, and bridging conversations between elementary and secondary teachers on NCTM focused mathematics curriculums.

As a high school mathematics teacher, Usha focused on seeking out ways to use the applications of mathematics to increase student engagement and motivation. She as also worked as a lead mathematics coach for middle and high schools in New York City’s Region 9. She has conducted professional development workshops for New York City teachers and for COMAP’s Mathematics Modeling Our World series.
