Vicki Garavuso, is an Associate Professor at a college in New York and has extensive expertise in early childhood education. She has presented numerous workshops for early childhood teachers as well as for parents on the following topics:
- Math materials workshop: What happens before numbers?
This hands-on workshop helps teachers and parents understand how young children learn math. The objective of this workshop is to help adults understand the value of building a foundation of “pre-numeracy” experiences for young children.
- Language development and emergent literacy: Making language, writing and reading connect.
This workshop offers teachers ways to make their classrooms language-rich environments. Teachers learn about open-ended questions, taking dictation, developing charts and graphs that are useful to children, and developing a story-telling/children’s drama approach to literacy.
