Vicki Scott is currently in her fourth year as a Literacy Coach for New York
City's Region 9.  For the last three years, she has been working in an early college initiative school in the South Bronx with teachers in grades 6-10. She  has been helping ELA teachers develop and implement units of study in their reading and writing workshop classrooms.  She has also been working with content area teachers to embed active literacy skills across their curriculum.

As a literacy coach, she has co-written and facilitated "Foundations of Literacy in the Middle School Classroom", a 30-hour course developed for new teachers in Region 9. In addition, she co-developed and facilitated "Developing Units of Study Using Understanding by Design in the Reading/Writing Workshop".

Vicki comes with experience working with teachers and students in rural and urban areas. Prior to working in NYC, she taught 7th grade English in New Jersey, was an artist-in-residence for the state of Arkansas in creative writing, and taught English, creative writing, and life management skills in middle school for the San Antonio School District. She was also an instructor for the New Jersey Writing Project of Texas.
