Workshop
Description
The Power of Detail, Voice, and Revision: How to
Create a Classroom of Writers
Keep it fresh. Keep it brief. Keep it clear. This workshop will
fire-up your classroom with practical, hands-on applications for teaching writing.
We will explore the power of detail, examine where voice comes from, and
take a fresh look at revision through inquiry. What gets our attention as readers? What gets our attention as
writers? In this workshop, we will introduce strategies that will empower your
students and change the way you teach writing. You will discover how to
motivate your students to uncover the power of words at work with each other, and
to capture the passion of the writer at work. In so doing, we will discover the basic truth of the successful
writing classroom: make it fun, make it easy, make it meaningful.
Come with a notebook and pencil and be prepared to write.
