Beverly Kling
is an expert in the area of Inclusion, In-Class Support, and Collaborative Teaming. Prior to teaching at the university level in NJ, Dr. Kling was a learning consultant, Child Study Team supervisor, early intervention teacher, special education teacher and elementary education teacher. She has been providing in-service workshops to teachers in training and to school districts this last decade. She has presented papers at national conferences and has published articles in national journals on strategies for inclusion, models for collaborative teaming and self-advocacy for individuals with disabilities across the life span. As professor of a course on the brain and learning, Dr. Kling has extensively explored research on this topic.
Para-Professional Training
In this workshop, a variety of approaches to use in managing classroom behavior are explored. Emphasis is placed upon preventive techniques to enhance on-task behavior and improve self-esteem of students. Methods encourage para-professionals to be proactive as they practice discipline with dignity.
Expected Outcomes:
It is expected that participants will:
- utilize techniques to increase on-task behavior and to improve self-esteem of students
- become knowledgeable in the use of proactive, preventive techniques to facilitate classroom management
- recognize benefits of discipline with dignity for students
