Catherine DeLaura was assistant principal and principal in a NYC school
from 2002 – 2007. She taught ESL and history as a Peace Çorps volunteer and
in the New York City public schools for 10 years. Her administration
experience also includes founding an interdisciplinary arts program in a NYC
high school and receiving an MBA from Columbia Business School. She is a
NSRF endorsed facilitator and she is currently on the mentor principal for a
new secondary school that opened in New York City in 2008.
Catherine has presented workshops on curriculum planning, differentiation,
creating professional development plans, and alternative assessment at
various national conferences. As a consultant, she has worked on using
learning walks as an instructional tool, systematic school design that
improves student achievement and creating professional learning communities.
She has co-taught an Educational Leadership course to Aspiring Principals at
a NYC university.
