Cynthia McCallister teaches courses in reading and writing instruction and assessment. She is a former classroom teacher and literacy staff developer in New York City and rural Maine schools. Her research explores practices of effective teaching of children who experience difficulty in learning to read and write. She has presented her work on literacy teaching and learning from a social constructivist perspective nationally and internationally, and is author of numerous published articles and book chapters.
