Mathew Hall

Matthew Hall is an Assistant Professor of Literacy in the Department of Special Education, Language and
Literacy at a College in New Jersey. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focused on literacy
instruction with a particular emphasis on elementary and middle school. Matthew Hall received his
Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Literacy Studies from New York University in 2013.
Prior to pursuing his doctorate, Matthew worked as a literacy coach and a public school teacher in New
Jersey. He holds certifications in General Education, Special Education and Education for the Deaf and
Hard of Hearing. Additionally, Matthew has worked as an educational consultant in various districts in
New Jersey providing differentiated professional development for teachers on a range of instructional
practices including reading and writing workshop, word study, and guided reading. He has facilitated
workshops at state, national and international venues. Matthew's current research investigates the
intersection of digital composition, multimodality, and collaboration in K-12 classrooms.
