Nicole Cohen - Reading and Writing

Nicole Frogel Cohen taught third, fourth and fifth grades during her six years at Manhattan’s PS 116. Her classroom was often a lab site for staff developers as well as a model classroom for visitors around the country. Throughout her tenure, she worked closely with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and was a presenter at workshops. Currently, Nicole is a consultant who works with teachers of third through ninth graders with an emphasis on building rigor in the reading and writing workshops. Nicole has a practical approach to implementing these workshops in classrooms that are unfamiliar with such practices as well as supporting teachers who have already established workshop based classrooms. Nicole received a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from the University at Albany, and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Teachers College of Columbia University.
