Wendy Carroll
has worked, for the past 10 years, as a first grade teacher, reading specialist, staff developer, teacher mentor, and reading consultant in Virginia, California, and New Jersey. The staff development workshops she has provided have focused on Word Story (following the teaching philosophy of Words Their Way), Reading and Writing Workshop, Guided Reading (grades K-3),Balanced Literacy, and Book Buddies Community Tutoring Program. She brings her enthusiasm for teaching, practical approach, hands-on experiences, authentic student samples and effective modeling techniques to provide a thorough and informational experience for workshop participants. She has helped schools design long and short term curriculum maps in the areas of Reading and Writing Workshop and Word Study.
Wendy graduated from the University of Virginia in 2001 with a Masters in Reading. In addition to her masters she was fortunate enough to receive extensive literacy training through Teachers College Reading and Writing workshop coaches.
